On Friday 25 September 1998 a massive explosion at Esso’s Longford gas plant crippled Victoria’s gas supplies, killing two men and injuring eight. Millions of Victorians needed immediate information but call centres couldn’t cope.
Within 24 hours Informatel had developed a mass communications solution using our totally integrated call centre system. The system provides up-to-the-minute information in 11 languages to file thousands of calls. The end result was that the public got the information it needed in a timely and efficient manner and the call centre saved staff costs.
“Imedia provided twice daily updates in 10 languages and seamlessly uploaded them to the Informatel platform which received hundreds of calls per hour,” explains Mark Lipshut, former Manging Director, Imedia. “The technical aspects and platform were partnered with Informatel, and the service was up and running by 6pm that day and continued for over two weeks.”
